Am Sonntag, dem 28. August werden die MTV Video Music Awards 2011 in Los Angeles an die tollsten Musikvideos des Jahres verliehen. Ganz weit vorne in der Nominierungsliste steht Katy Perry mit 9 Nominierungen in 14 Kategorien – so oft war noch nie eine Künstlerin vor ihr mit vier Videos nominiert! Gefolgt wird Katy von Adele, die neben Lil Wayne, Bruno Mars und Chris Brown auch performen wird, mit sieben möglichen Awards. Eröffnet wird die Verleihung mit einer angeblich einmaligen Performance von Lady Gaga. Zudem wird Britney Spears den Ehren-Award in Kombination mit einem besonderen Medley geehrt.
